FIBDA Manga Contest

Four Algerian Artists Honored by Japanese Embassy

As part of its 17ᵗʰ edition, FIBDA hosted a special manga contest in collaboration with the Japanese Embassy, honoring four young Algerian artists passionate about the genre. The award ceremony, held on October 5, 2025, celebrated their originality and storytelling talent.

Japanese Ambassador Suzuki Kotaro presented the prizes to the winners: Adadahin Asma, Salimi Zoheir, Ziad Adlane Abderrahim, and Manal Bakhtaoui. Their works were praised for their unique creative vision and rich narrative worlds.

Jury member and Japanese mangaka Aoyagi Etsuko congratulated the contestants, highlighting the diversity and creativity of the submissions. She emphasized the vibrancy of Algeria’s emerging manga scene, noting its ability to tell distinctive stories through personal and innovative artistic styles.
